Boss GT-8: The best floor processor on the market. Period.
Before I purchased my GT-8, I briefly owned a Digitech RP350. It's effects and features were great, even including a USB input to connect to your computer and record. It was fantastic for a good while..until I walked into my local guitar store and sampled the Boss GT-8. After about 10 minutes of fiddling with the GT-8 controls and getting an overall feel of the system, I decided to return my RP350 and purchase the Boss without giving a second thought. The tone, quality, and the overall feel literally blew me away. Though I didn't get the exact tone I wanted, there were so many controls and options on the damn thing that I didn't care, assuming I would get it right after I bought it. And I did. The sounds that this monster produced just blew me away. I was simply amazed at the number of ways you can fine tune your sound with the GT-8; you can technically get ANY sound you want out of your guitar with this, PROVIDED YOU OWN A DECENT AMP. And by decent I mean great, since the better guitar amp you have, the exponentially better your sound will get with this processor. I own a Marshall TSL60 amp and a Mesa/Boogie Rectifier 2x12 guitar cab. Let me just say that after about 10 years of playing, it's as if I picked up the guitar for the first time and got all excited about playing all over again. It's like my guitar was on steroids! No matter which setting I had on my GT-8, the sound and tone would just seem so fat and rounded! I don't think I could have possibly made a better investment - those dual COSM engines really put the Boss GT-8 above all other floor processors, enabling you to mix, match, and of course layer whatever tones you like. The durability and quality of this thing is head and toes above my former RP350 (like I said, it's a Boss!). Of course, all of this doens't come cheaply. At about $200 more than the Digitech, one might think that the RP350 is a better buy. However, the comparison is pathetically dominated by the GT-8, with its superior tone, effects, and the durability only a Boss can provide. Yes, you might not be able to record directly to your computer with the GT-8, but this thing is for serious artists who can actually afford to buy an external recording device. Resident evil 6 mac download. Trust me, if you have the dough, a great amp, and the desire to get the best sound out of your guitar, go with the Boss GT-8. You will not be disappointed with this high-end processor.
This is the sound I wanted for 20 years
Let me start by saying I have owned this for about 6 months. I hav e gigged & recorded with it. I had previously played Digitech stuff for 15 years last unit was a GNX3. My plan was to buy a Line6 pod Live. I found the GT8 by accident. I liked it in the store & looked at a few of it's features & here is the number 1 reason I got it. This unit allows me to model 2 different amps at the same time and delay those amps where it can sound like 2 guitar players. It is very cool to set up a Marshall on the right & a Vox on the left. Have a distortion amp on the left & a clean amp on the right. The possibilities are endless. The solo button is also very cool. When it comes time for doing my leads or solo all I need to is hit that button & my solos cut through the sound of our band just where they need to be. As for the sounds in this thing you have more than ample room for your custom sounds 140 spots. The presets run from super clean to over the top modern sounds. I feel they are a little less synthetic than the unit I planned to by & they presets are a little more versitle. Tweaking this thing is a breeze if you think of it as changing the settings on an amp & stomp boxes. Dial up the amp you want then set the dials. Want chorus turn it on & tweak it to your liking. Same goes for all the other effects. Speaking of effects you have everything from Flanging to acoustic Sims & synth modules. They all can be tweaked. Assigning the various pedals requires a little more work but can really be worth it I have a cool sound that allows me to do pitch bending with 1 & I can change the panning rate with another. You will probably spend several hours playing with the presets then a few more hours tweaking but you will get what you want. One other cool feature I like is when I want to move patches I can exchange rather than have to give something up. Connecting this thing is simple you can send it direct to the PA & pan 1 channel left & the other right. I use 2 amps & have them set at a basic clean sound & the GT8 does all the work. Being the only guitar player in a 3 piece band really makes me love the ability to model 2 different amps. It also has an out for s/pdif direct recording. It is built pretty solid so I do not anticipate any problems. If it were stolen I would replace it with another right away. This has become almost as important to me as my guitar. Of course it was ordered from Sweetwater & arrived in a day got to love that.
Sounds good with or without an amp
https://powerupglobal.weebly.com/windows-pxe-boot-server.html. If you're looking for a good pedal board with a wide range of effects and great sounds, look no further. This pedal sounds great. I used it with just a set of 2.1 speakers for about two months, and the amp simulations sounded really good that way. It made me feel like I was still playing through an amp. Now I use it with a Marshall AVT50 and the versatility that I have now between the two is amazing! Plus, the effects sound great! And there's so many of them that I would've spent much more money buying individual stomp boxes then I did on this pedal. Plus, I like to change settings for each song, which is MUCH easier on this than on individual pedals.
Versatility box
I've owned this for a year now. When it comes to sculpturing tone the GT8 is the most flexible I know of. Possibilities seem quite endless. Besides all the tone/cab/amp/speaker emulations you have 2 FX channels where you can mix 2 effects at once, and this does not include reverb/delay/chorus which has their own seperate knobs. Also you have a effects chain feature where you can arrange all of your effects in any order you wish. The effects in the GT8 are top quality which surprised me. The tone modeler is so versatile. Now I don't try to achieve sounding exactly like this amp or that cab. I just want to sculpture tone and the GT8 provides this and then some. I'm just a hobbyist so I'm only interested in direct recording into a sound board. That said I need to touch base on the distortion of the GT8. I found the distortion disappointing. Even though there are so many types it all dry, harsh and brittle. I couldn't find decent distortion on this no matter how much I tweaked. Finally I bought a couple tube emulating distortion preamp pedals (Damage Control) and ran it through the effects loop of the Boss. I turn the Boss distortion off and chain the effects where the Loop is before the tone modeling preamp. Wow! What great sound! So I think the GT8 is worth the money because of effects and features. It is really an amazing box. As long as you're willing to spend the extra cash on a good distortion pedal, preferably a valve one. The distortion on the GT8 is poor.
Boss did good!
I am a previous GT-6 owner and this unit for the most part has surpassed my expectations. The dual amps is an amazing feature. Either as stereo or combined in mono this really opens up the tonal possiblities of the amp modeling and fattening your sound. Download anytrans crack for mac. Models are improved sint the GT-6 and the new models are very impressive. The effects are rich and lush as Boss effects generally are. The parameters are so deep so if you like to tweak you won't be disappointed. My only two complaints is the Spring Reverb wasn't as convincing as I would have hoped and there is no librarian software yet (supposed to be forthcoming). The GT-8 also can be synced to an external midi clock which is great for beat synched effects. If you like Boss, you'll like this unit. If you like to tweak you will like this unit. If you like to create your own signature sound your will really like this unit.
This time they go it right!
I have owned the GT5, GT6 and now the GT8. This unit is superior in everyway to the previous models. The older models did not quite have the warmth that I needed from the GT boxes. This unit has the warmth and the detailed programming which users really need. 2 amp models running simultaneously - YES. Customizable effects chain - YES. Good Mic placement programming (model, axis, distance) - YES. I think Boss finally got it right.
